Today I released the
Python LAN Chat package in the coding section of this site (which is in desperate need of a major layout update by the way). The reason I separated this package from the already existing Python Game and Chat package is that I noticed a lot of people are actually looking for a quick chat solution for their exclusive networks, and that the Game package will be taking another direction in the future.
That's the boring stuff done with. What features does this package provided? I'll tell ya!
- A server based chat channel on your local area network
- A client with a straight forward user interface
- Private messaging
- the /me command (hooray!)
- Could be set up to use over the internet
- Extras like log and file bots
- Easy to use, fast and stable
- Written in Python, GTK and Twisted. All source is supplied
To see some screenshots and read about technical information, visit the
Python LAN Chat package coding page.
